What began as a passion project in 2005 has now become a full-time job for Kucin founder of Deafmessanger. His designs grew in popularity in Prague and other Czech towns and eventually, word spread to major European cities such as Berlin, London, and Copenhagen.

I have chosen to feature Deafmessanger because I just love their unique notebooks, postcards, and other products, they are so eclectic, fun and more importantly, sustainable

The philosophy behind the brand aligns perfectly with the principles I have chosen for Fashion Space: Recycling and upcycling, fair and social production and creatively inspiring. I am fascinated by how Kucin incorporates found objects into his designs, breathing new life into discarded items. His travels inspire his collections; old book pages from Barcelona, playing cards from Southeast Asia, and flea market finds from Berlin and Prague are all integrated into Deafmessanger's products.

I also value how Deafmessanger is committed to ethical production practices. The brand collaborates with small local companies and a sheltered workshop that employs individuals with mental health issues, while much of the handwork is still done in their Prague studio.

Kucin's commitment to sustainability, fair production, and artistic expression has made Deafmessanger a beloved brand in shops around the world. His journey from a passionate hobbyist to a full-time designer is a testament to the power of creativity and the impact of thoughtful, ethical production.
