I chose Alphonse Maitrepierre’s namesake brand, Maitre Pierre, for its visionary approach to fashion, which melds tradition with innovation. Graduating from Visual Arts School and La Cambre in 2016, Alphonse honed his skills working as an assistant stylist in the haute couture studio of Jean Paul Gaultier and costume designer for renowned fashion houses such as Chanel and Acne Studios.
In 2018, he launched his brand, Maitre Pierre, from his Paris-based studio, financing his creative endeavours through collaborations with Desigual and Carel. Pierre views his brand as a creative laboratory, a space where he seamlessly integrates traditional craftsmanship with the digital age
The brand specialises in haute couture and ready-to-wear pieces, all meticulously designed and crafted in Paris through collaborations with artists. Maitre Pierre’s collections have captured the attention of the fashion world, earning features in prestigious publications such as Vogue Runway, British Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue Portugal, Vogue Australia, Crash Magazine, The Fashion Network, and Les Inrocks.
His work dissects the hype around artificial intelligence, seeking to understand both its potential and limitations. His geek-chic, gender-neutral clothing is a bold statement, challenging norms and pushing boundaries. Maitre Pierre’s designs are not just garments; they are a forward-thinking exploration of the future of fashion.
